The competition between Vitamix and Ninja is fierce. They are both solid blenders, but their features and functions are vastly different.
Vitamix is a high-end brand, and its blender is well-known for its durability and high-quality Vitamix parts, so many people consider it a worthy investment. However, that doesn’t mean that the Ninja blender bites the dust and falls behind the competition.
The Ninja blender is a cheaper and “just as good” alternative to Vitamix, providing an option for those on a tight budget. Of course, at this low price point, you can’t expect perfect compatibility and comprehensiveness in terms of features and specs like the more expensive models.
But without further ado, let’s take a closer look at their perks and misfits.
Vitamix vs Ninja Battle #1 – Assessing The Main Differences
The main differences between Vitamix and Ninja blenders are in the materials used to make them, the power output, the jar capacity, how much they cost, and what attachments they come with.
We’ve run a couple of tests using the most popular models from both brands: Ninja BL660 Professional and Vitamix 5200 Blender Professional-Grade. We’ve picked these two specific models because we wanted to ensure they are both worthy opponents.
And here are our results…
1. Vitamix vs Ninja – Power & Performance Test
The Ninja and Vitamix blenders are both high-performance blenders that serve multiple cooking purposes such as blending, grinding, chopping, and even making dough.
Although both blenders are geared towards high performance, there are some noticeable differences between them regarding their power.
Vitamix blender has a higher horsepower motor with 1380 watts, while the Ninja blender comes with a slightly smaller 1100-watt motor base.
The Vitamix blender is especially effective for making steaming-hot soups (without a stove), while the Ninja blender works best for chopping frozen vegetables.
So in terms of their performance, Vitamix wins this battle (with a small difference).
2. Vitamix vs Ninja – Speed Settings
Setting-wise, the Vitamix blender is equipped with ten different speeds with variable speed control. Meaning you can easily adjust the speed at any time for achieving different textures. The highest speed creates friction heat responsible for making steaming hot soups in just a few minutes.
The Ninja Professional blender comes with three suggested speeds, a pulse button, and a single-serve function. The first low speed is designed for making dough, the second medium speed is designed mainly for blending, and the third high speed is designed for crushing frozen foods.
Most people don’t really need many speed settings, but we want to have more control when preparing our favorite drinks and meals. That’s why we are announcing the Vitamix blender as a winner once again.
3. Vitamix vs Ninja – Volume Capacity
Both of these blenders come with large containers that can hold up enough liquid for the whole family or a small party of friends.
However, this is where the Ninja blender beats the Vitamix blender.
- ULTIMATE POWER: 1100-watt motor powers through the toughest ingredients and pulverizes ice to snow in seconds for creamy...
- VERSITILE FUNCTIONS: Professional performance with 3 manual speeds, pulse, and the single serve function for to-go cups....
- XL CAPACITY: 72-oz. Total Crushing Pitcher is perfect for creating creamy frozen drinks and smoothies for the whole family,...

The largest container that Vitamix comes in is a 64 ounces container, while Ninja Professional blender comes with 72 ounces container.
So in terms of volume capacity, Ninja Professional blender is the obvious winner.
4. Vitamix vs Ninja – Blades Comparison
Both of these blenders are equipped with stainless steel blades, but their positioning is different.
The Vitamix blender has one blunt blade with 4 pointed tips, which is conveniently located at the bottom of the container. That’s why most Vitamix models come with a tamper for pushing the ingredients towards the blades. This makes a powerful vortex effect that produces a smooth result.
The Ninja blender comes with two very sharp blades positioned on a plastic tower. This setup is perfect for chopping frozen foods and breaking down everything else you want to blend.
However, we found that Ninja’s blades NOT always produce the smoothest results, leaving us with small chunks of skin from the fruits or vegetables.
So even though the two different blades are almost equally powerful, we will declare Vitamix as a winner once again here, because of the better results its blade produces.
5. Vitamix vs Ninja – Durability
The durability of any blender mostly depends on the materials it’s built with. If one blender comes with high-quality materials, it’s only logical that it will endure a long lifetime, comparing to the cheaper one.
Another factor for durability is how well you take care of your blender, so it’s hard for us to make some definitive claim here.
Even though we can’t really decide which blender can ensure longer operational efficiency, we found that the Vitamix container seems slightly more resistant than the Ninja container.
6. Vitamix vs Ninja – Warranty
Vitamix stands behind its blender by offering a 7-year full warranty.
On the other hand, Ninja blender offers only a 1-year limited warranty.
So there is no further discussion needed here about the winner in this category 🙂
7. Vitamix vs Ninja – Accessories Comparison
In terms of standard accessories, both brands come with containers (BPA-free material), lids, guides, drive sockets, and blades.
What is different about the Vitamix blender is its specially designed tamper for processing thick blends, which is included in the Vitamix 5200 model. This may be helpful to know if you were wondering which Vitamix to buy, and you want to pick the one with the included tamper.
On the other hand, the Ninja Professional blender comes with two additional 16 oz. Nutri Cups with lids for preparing drinks to go.
You can also purchase more accessories that are available for both brands, but make sure to match your specific model.
So we can’t really decide about the winner here, since this is an “apples to oranges” comparison.
With that being said, we’ve concluded the first Ninja vs Vitamix battle for the main differences.

But hold on!
The war between these two blenders is not over yet!
We have one more upcoming battle!
Vitamix vs Ninja Battle #2 – Testing The Popular Recipes
In this section, we will test how different recipes will turn out in both blenders.
Here are the recipes that we will be testing:
- Vitamix vs Ninja smoothie test
- Vitamix vs Ninja hot soup test
- Vitamix vs Ninja peanut butter test
- Vitamix vs Ninja hummus test
Vitamix vs Ninja – Smoothie Performance
Preparing Vitamix smoothie recipes is as easy as it gets. Its powerful blade and vortex effect can make a smooth paste from any fruits you will put into the container. When making a smoothie in Vitamix, the best thing is the perfect mix you will get, without any skin leftovers from the fruits.
However, if you use ice in your smoothie, we found that Vitamix can struggle with it.
This is where the powerful Ninja blades come in. The Ninja blender has an advantage here because its tower of sharp blades can quickly cut through the ice and any fruits you will insert into the jar.
On the downside, we’ve noticed that sometimes the end result from the Ninja’s blender can contain chunks of fruits skin, which some people may find off-putting.
However, looking at the bigger picture, we can give a winning point to the Ninja blender when it comes to preparing smoothies.
Vitamix vs Ninja – Hot Soup Performance
When it comes to soups, we love how easy it’s to prepare a soup recipe in Vitamix. Thanks to the powerful friction that both the Vitamix motor and the blade create, you will be able to make creamy, hot soup without a stove in 5-6 minutes.
On the other side, the Ninja Professional blender isn’t capable of making a hot soup! The reason is that the ingredients don’t heat up during the process. That doesn’t mean that you can’t make any soup at all, you actually can, but it will be stone-cold. So if you don’t mind heating up your soup later, you can still use your Ninja blender for making a delicious soup.
It goes without saying that the winner for preparing soups is the Vitamix blender.
Vitamix vs Ninja – Peanut Butter Test
When trying to make peanut butter (or any other nut butter) in a Vitamix blender, you will see how easy the blunt blades make the job done. In just a few minutes, you will be able to grind your peanuts into extra crunchy and delicious peanut butter.
Making a peanut butter in Ninja blender is also a feasible job. However, in order to make smooth peanut butter, it may require a little more effort from your side. You will have to use the pulse function more often and add more liquid until you are satisfied with the end result.
So the winner for peanut butter again is the Vitamix blender, but with a slightly bigger advantage.
Vitamix vs Ninja – Hummus Test
Hummus is one of our favorite Vitamix recipes because we can prepare thick and healthy hummus in this blender in no time. The blades and the unique design of the Vitamix container do a fantastic job in mixing together all ingredients needed for a fluffy and creamy hummus.
Making hummus in the Ninja blender can be a little messy, simply because the ingredients don’t mix well enough. So probably you can end up with a liquidy hummus that looks like a smoothie. However, it will still be tasty, so you are not losing much.
Another winning point for Vitamix blender here.
