If you found yourself tired, hungry, and without any idea what to have for breakfast today, smoothies are the perfect go-to meal. However, it would be in vain to compare my new Vitamix A2500 with the $70 conventional blender I bought a couple of years ago.
I don’t deny it – a cheap blender can do the job fine, but only if you occasionally want a breakfast smoothie and you don’t mind whole chunks and skins of vegetables and seeds.
On the other hand, if you’re aiming for a healthy and nutritious smoothie with a smooth and consistent texture, there’s nothing that can replace a premium model such as Vitamix.
But regardless of what you choose, there’re still a couple of factors you need to consider before investing in a high-end blender:
- Speed
- Power
- Size
Speed – What Are The Speeds On A Blender?
A good blender should feature between 3 and 10 speeds. Basic blenders that come with less than three speeds aren’t very good for getting the desired consistency.
That’s why the Vitamix blenders come with 10 speeds that allow you to be in control every time you want to make a smoothie or a hot soup. In addition, the high speed enables the blenders to produce heat friction responsible for turning cold ingredients into steaming hot.
Power – How Powerful Should A Blender Be?
Blenders start from 200 watts of power and can go over 1,500.
A basic blender would usually feature around 500 watts.
However, if you’re looking for a premium one, I recommend getting one with at least 1,200 watts. This particular Vitamix blender comes with 1,380 watts.
Size – What Size Blender Should I Get?
Depending on your household and family size, blenders can have a capacity of 3 to 8 cups (24 to 64 ounces).
If you’re a single living person or looking for something small and compact, then a blender that can accommodate 24 ounces would be great (for example, NutriBullet).
On the other hand, if you’re living in a large family that aims to eat healthier, you’ll undoubtedly need a larger blender featuring up to 64 ounces (such as Vitamix A2500).

When taking a look at the Vitamix Ascent series, this model is the most affordable option among all of them. Thanks to its 3 pre-programmed settings for preparing smoothies, soups, and frozen desserts, the blender allows you to achieve consistent and quality results.
It may cost a little fortune, but it’s definitely worth every penny, especially if you’re striving for a healthier lifestyle without compromising on your food’s quality.
Its predecessor, the Vitamix A2300, doesn’t feature any pre-programmed settings but still makes for a well-advanced blender.
On the other side, if you’re looking for an extra-advanced, high-tech blender that is packed with multiple premium features, you won’t go wrong by choosing the Vitamix A3500 blender.
However, I like the Vitamix Ascent A2500 model because it’s the “middle child,” offering the best from both blenders.

For me, the decision-maker was definitely the smoothie preset. I immediately fell in love with this function because all I do is toss my ingredients inside, choose the smoothie program using the single touch button, and leave my smoothie to get blended “on its own.”
In just 1 minute, I got my healthy smoothie with restaurant quality!
Built-in Wireless Connectivity
All Ascent models come with the innovative technology of self-detecting the container size.
The built-in wireless connectivity in the Vitamix A2500 blender allows the motor base to recognize the container size you’ve chosen for blending.
Once recognized, the blender will automatically adjust the blending program settings and set the blending time accordingly.
“Vitamix Perfect Blend” Mobile App
What’s even better about the Vitamix A2500 is that you can always connect it to the free “Vitamix Perfect Blend” app for Android or iOS and get access to 17 programs and a cookbook of over 500 recipes.
Some of these programs are specialized for blending spreads, nut butter, dressings, baby food, dry chopping different ingredients, and my personal favorite one, the self-cleaning program. I hate spending too much time cleaning, and this feature does a great job of self-cleaning the jar in under 1 minute.
What I love about this app is that it constantly gets updated, so you always get new recipes and ideas. It’s a convenient feature when you’re not feeling creative or when you want to try something new.
Pulsating Feature
Regardless of what preset you choose, the Vitamix A2500 features a handy pulse feature for blending thick ingredients.
This feature can work together with the variable speed control. Their joined forces are responsible for giving your blends a consistent and smooth texture, regardless of what ingredients you placed inside.
Tough Stainless Steel Blades
Stainless steel is a naturally antibacterial material, making it completely sanitary and hygienic when it comes to cooking.
The Vitamix A2500’s blades are laser-cut and designed to handle any tough ingredients, turning them into a perfectly smooth blend.
And once they reach high speed, the blades create friction heat responsible for making steaming-hot soups in just a few minutes.
10-Year Full Warranty
Unlike the other Vitamix models, the Ascent Series come with a 10-year full warranty. This speaks enough about how much Vitamix stands behind the quality of their Ascent Series and how serious they are about the A2500’s performances.
The warranty covers Vitamix blender parts, normal wear and tear, labor, and two-way shipping.
64 Oz Large Container
Vitamix’s A2500 originally comes with a 64 oz container. But as much as it’s perfect for larger families, this container isn’t convenient for preparing single blends at all.
The problem is, the container is wide at the bottom and leaves the ingredients on the sides or under the blades.
I solved this by getting a smaller container that the blender automatically recognized, although it cost me an additional $150.
