Most fitness experts say that there is an impact of time when drinking smoothies.  I find that its best to drink detox smoothies in the morning. I usually drink them an hour before I work out or go to work. You can also drink it about an hour before bedtime, this way it works it’s magic while you sleep. What Foods Help With Keeping Your Liver Healthy?

Avocados – Avocados are known to have high-fat content. However, most of these high-fat content is “good fat” or monosaturated fat. This is the type of fat that helps eliminate bad cholesterol. It is also a non-glycemic food, meaning it contains a healthy amount of sugar that is not harmful to the body. This also proves to help to prevent fatty liver disease.

Apples – One of the perfect fruits to help cleanse your liver is apples. It is rich in pectin and malic acid which helps flush toxins and carcinogens from the digestive tract. This lightens the load of the liver and thus allows it to function better in cleansing the body. Apples also contain several inflammatory properties that reduce the risk of fatty liver. 

Garlic – Garlic is identified to help the liver in activating enzymes that flush out toxins from the body. It is also rich in compounds like selenium and allicin that aids in cleansing the liver. Allicin has antioxidant qualities while selenium helps in activating the antioxidants.

Turmeric – This widely used spice is not only versatile but is also a great ingredient in improving liver health. Ingredients: 

  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 cup baby spinach
  • 1 banana, frozen and sliced
  • 1/2 green apple, cored and chopped
  • 1 carrot, peeled and chopped
  • 3 walnut halves
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons hemp powder
  • 1 pinch cinnamon (optional)

Instructions: 

  1. Process unsweetened almond milk and baby spinach to create a smoothie base.
  2. Add banana, green apple, and carrot slices then let it blend. 
  3. Then add walnut halves, fresh parsley, turmeric powder, and hemp powder.
  4. Blend until well combined.
  5. Pour into smoothie cups and serve with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.

Healthy Liver Cleanse Smoothie

Power smoothie with all the nutrients and vitamins combined to give your liver a good cleansing.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cup water
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1 cup kale
  • 1 medium carrot, peeled and chopped
  • 1 small beet, peeled and chopped
  • 1 apple, cored and sliced
  • 1/2-inch ginger root
  • ½ cup ice

Instructions:

  1. Blend water, lemon juice, and kale for about 15 seconds.
  2. Add carrot, beet, apple, and ginger root.
  3. Add ice and process for another 15 to 20 seconds.
  4. Pour into glasses and enjoy!

Liver Lover Detox Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Matcha Green Tea, cooled
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • ¼ cup parsley chopped
  • 1/2 green apple, cored and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Spirulina
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced

Instructions:

  1. Combine Matcha Green Tea, celery, and parsley in the blender to create a base.
  2. Gradually add green apple, Spirulina, and lemon juice.
  3. Blend until you get a smooth consistency.
  4. Transfer to smoothie cups and serve over ice.
