So, you picked the best blender for green smoothies and planned out your smoothie diet. Now the next question is, when is the best time to drink a green smoothie? Every time I try convincing a friend or a family member about adding healthy smoothies in their diet, that’s one of the first things they ask.

Mostly because they work on different schedules. Knowing when to drink smoothies can help them incorporate it into their daily to-do lists. Technically, you can drink smoothies at any time of the day. However, drinking it at different times on the day has a varied effect on your body too.

For example, the best time to drink green smoothies is in the morning. Typically, before your daily exercise or before you head out for work. This is because they are rich in fiber and other vitamins and nutrients you will need for the day. You can easily make it in less than 10 minutes. Unlike with preparing a full breakfast to get the same nutrients where it will take you at least 30 minutes to an hour. Therefore, most fitness experts suggest that the best meal to replace with a smoothie is breakfast.

Green smoothies are also good as liver detox smoothies. This is because they are rich in antioxidants. They often have ingredients with anti-inflammation properties that help improve liver health. 

During lunch, I like to take energizing smoothies to refill my used up energy from either working or doing house chores. I find it’s a healthier alternative to coffee. It curbs my cravings and helps me stay focused without the unnecessary artificial sugar you get from most coffees. 

It’s also more convenient when I’m having a busy workday and have to go through a working lunch. I can just drink my whole meal from my to-go tumbler instead of having to get fast food. It keeps me full and energized for the rest of the day.

Do you know you can also lose weight by sleeping? Yes, you can drink a smoothie before you go to bed. Nighttime smoothies help you a better sleep quality with its calming properties. It also contains greens or fruits that are rich in antioxidants that help flush out toxins from your body.

It’s also worth noting that if you’re short on sleep, your craving for sugar and caffeine increases. This is not helpful especially if you’re trying to lose weight. Meanwhile, if you had enough sleep you will have the energy to prepare healthy meals and do you work out. 

What Are Green Smoothies?

These are smoothies that contain a huge amount of leafy greens. Though it may not always be “green” in color due to different fruits and superfoods that you can mix with it. To make it, blend at least 1 cup of your choice of leafy green (kale, spinach, collard greens, etc.) with your choice of liquid bases like yogurt, coconut water, or almond milk. Then you add fruits and preferred superfoods.

Green smoothies provide you your average daily vitamins and nutrients. This is because it contains various fruits, vegetables, and superfoods. It helps detoxify your body and rid it of unwanted fats. Green smoothies can also greatly and effectively boost your immunity and metabolism. 

For my skincare lovers, drinking green smoothies can also help give you clearer, glowing skin. Leafy greens are rich in antioxidants and have high Vitamin E and C that aids your skin in fighting damages from free radicals and UV rays. 

Is It Okay To Drink A Green Smoothie At Night?

Yes, it is! As long as you craft it with the right ingredients. For Nighttime smoothies, it’s best to put ingredients that can help your body to physically and mentally relax. Some of these ingredients are lavender, aloe vera juice, kiwi, and berries. The milk or yogurt that you usually put in smoothies as they are rich in magnesium and calcium. These are natural minerals that help give you a better good night’s sleep. 

How Often Do You Drink Green Smoothies?

If you’re going through a detox (this usually goes anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks), you would usually replace 1 or 2 meals a day with smoothies. Preferably breakfast and lunch. However, after the detox, you can stick with just one glass a day then do a detox every once in a while. I do my detox every other week, or after a holiday where I feel like I ate too much unhealthy food.
