Vitamix has been making luxury blenders for almost a century now and the years of experience and research sure reflect on their products. And thus, our topic for today: Vitamix 5200 vs 7500. We already know that the Vitamix 5200 is a legend and has been up there in the list of most sought-after blenders. But can the Vitamix 7500 take the top spot?

Vitamix 5200 VS Vitamix 7500: The Last Legacies Standing

The Vitamix 5200 and Vitamix 7500 are two of the last few models of Vitamix’s Legacy Series. They are always compared with each other because of their many similarities.

So, let’s look at their specifications and features to see what got them to the list of top-selling Vitamix blenders.

Vitamix 5200: The C-Series Champion

The Vitamix 5200 is still one of the top-tier brand’s best-selling model despite being around for over a decade now. This C-Series blender has been in many kitchens whether it’s residential or commercial. It has a professional-grade built that stands the test of time.

It has all the standard C-Series features and more. The 64-ounce pitcher is perfect for small to medium family servings of smoothies, sauces, or even piping hot soup. The 2HP motor and hardened blades guarantee to give you a perfect mix, every time.

It has a 4-prong 3-inch blade that is made from commercial-grade stainless steel that will not dull, rust or chip. This is held down by an all-metal assembly that attaches it to the base instead of the usual plastic construction. This paired with its powerful motor makes blending your smoothies to perfection is always quick and effortless.

It’s the best feature? Oh, no big deal. Just that it comes with a built-in Radial cooling fan PLUS a thermal protection system. If the motor gets too hot, it shuts itself down to keep it from overheating. Protecting your blender’s motor to make sure you get the most out of your well-invested money.

Pros:

  • Durable Construction – The Vitamix 5200 is carefully designed to last for years. It has hardened blades that are engineered to process hard to blend ingredients like frozen fruits or tough veggies.  The overheat protection system keeps your motor in good shape so you always get the perfect blend.
  • Self-Cleaning – Not fond of doing the dishes? The 5200 will not add up to the load. It self-cleans with just a drop of soap and some water, completely fuss-free.
  • Versatile – This blender is not only engineered to make café quality smoothies, but it can also make you piping hot soup, ice cream, dough, chunky salsa, and even nut butter.
  • Easy to Use – The classic 5200 has a very simple control panel, making it easy to use.  It only has 3 different switches that do the job well. One to flip between high and variable setting, in the middle, is the 10-speed dial, and on the far right is the on and off switch.

Cons:

  • Can’t fit under cabinets – The 5200 follows the classic Vitamix structure so it’s about 20” tall. This means it doesn’t fit under most cabinets. However, with its classy design and the price tag that comes with it, I’d be proud to display it on my countertop.
  • Can be loud – Because of its powerful motor, this blender can be loud. Just like any other blender with a powerful motor. This is something I don’t really mind since it’s not like we’re making smoothies at 4AM or in the middle of the night.

Vitamix 7500 – The Pride Of G-Series

The 7500 boasts a hefty 2.2 HP motor combined with an efficient cooling system and a thermal protection system. This keeps it from overheating even when you’re making a thick smoothie bowl blend with frozen fruits and stubborn leafy greens. The tamper tool that it comes with also helps you push the ingredients down without having to stop the blending process.

The 4-inch hardened stainless-steel blade with 4 prongs laser cut to perfection is another awesome upgrade in this series too. Combine this with the power of a 2.2HP motor and you can get silky smooth, steaming hot tomato soup in a matter of seconds.

Its best feature is the Pulse switch. It gives you full control over the texture of your blend, letting you make different textured layers. This makes for perfectly chunky salsa and hearty thick pumpkin soups way easier than it already is. The Pulse feature also makes it extra versatile for use in many cooking preparations.

Pros:

  • Low Profile Container – One of its most noticeable difference is the stout 64-ounce container that it comes with. This allows it to fit easier under most kitchen cabinets, making for more convenient and clutter-free storage.
  • Less Noise – The 7500 has noise dampening feature which makes it quieter than the C-series blenders like the 5200. This is more convenient to use since you won’t be waking up the whole house when making a smoothie.
  • Pulse Feature – The Pulse toggle is the main feature of the 7500, and for good reason. This allows you to make different layers of textures in whatever food you’re preparing. It also makes the model more versatile as you can use it from chopping to make veggie purees.
  • More Powerful Motor – It comes with a 2.2HP motor compared to the 5200’s 2HP motor. This is backed up by an anti-overheating system to give it a longer life span. This means longer functioning time without having to rest it every few minutes.

Cons:

  • Fewer Color Options – The 7500 only has 3 color options unlike the 5200 with 5. It is available in Red, Black, and White colors. This isn’t quite a turn off since these colors blend well in different aesthetics. Plus, the 7500 has a modern, classy design.
  • More Pricey – Because of it’s added features, this model has a higher price range than the 5200. This is well worth it considering what comes with the price increase. A more powerful motor, blade, and a pitcher that’s easier to store, to name a few.

Vitamix 5200 VS Vitamix 7500: Side By Side Comparison

Motor

The Vitamix 7500 is powered by a 2.2 HP motor while the Vitamix 5200 only has 2.0 HP. This means you can get a faster, more accurate finished product using the Vitamix 7500. Both models come with a cooling fan and a thermal protection system so their motors do not overheat even when making thick blends.

Blades And Pitcher

Another advantage by the New Gen 7500 is the low-profile pitcher that fits under most kitchen cabinets. This is one of the main complaints with the 5200 which has a slenderer build. The 7500 is stout and wide, complemented by a 4” blades. This ensures the ingredients do not get stuck on the sides of the pitcher while blending.

Meanwhile, the 5200 has a tall and slim pitcher which makes it challenging to fit under cabinets and thus consume more storage space. Both models have a 64-ounce capacity so you can easily make a blend for the whole family.

Winner: Vitamix 7500

Control And Speed Settings

Both systems have the standard 10-speed dial by Vitamix. This allows a more precise blend depending on what you need. The difference is with the switches, what the 5200 has as a High/Variable switch, the 7500 has as its Pulse feature. Where the On/Off switch is on the 5200 is the Start/Stop switch on the 7500. It’s On/Off switch is far back on the side of the base. Which can be quite confusing to some.

Winner: Vitamix 5200

Vitamix 5200 VS Vitamix 7500: Final Thoughts

Both models are engineered with professional-level quality in mind, though they are both advertised for household use. This only allows you to make restaurant and café quality meals for your family from the comfort of your home.

When choosing between the two, consider the price and the features:

If you frequently find yourself needing a Pulse option on your blender, or you see it often called on the recipe that you wanted to try, go with the Vitamix 7500. It also has a stronger motor, a more efficient cooling system, and a noise dampening feature.

This means it gives you a more precise result, every time. The price range is higher, but as you analyze your need for it, it’s worth every penny.

If you prefer a simpler blender and don’t have much need for an extra powerful motor like the 7500, you can get a Vitamix 5200 instead. It’s been on the market for more than 10 years and it remains one of the best-selling models ever. It also costs less, and you can also get a refurbished version of it on the Vitamix website or Costco.
