Making smoothies usually, just take about 5 to 10 minutes max including preparation, but deciding what kind of smoothie to make? Trust me, that’s a whole different process on its own! For busy moms like me, this is the most convenient and yummy way to make sure the family gets all the nutrients they need for the day. Some even use smoothies as a grab and go breakfast. But some days, you just run out of options or don’t have enough time to make them.

I found a hack that will keep nutritious smoothies in our daily breakfast diet, and I want to share it with you. Make a whole week’s worth of smoothies ahead of time during your days off then freeze them. That way you can plan it more efficiently according to what kind of activities you have for the day. It also saves you A LOT of time during the weekdays, so no need to wake up super early to prep your smoothies.

So, how do you freeze smoothies without sacrificing their quality?

Invest in a high-grade blender. Since you are making a big batch of smoothie, you need a sizeable blender like the Vitamix 5200 that is capable of effortlessly crushing frozen fruits and veggies and turning them into velvety smooth slushies.

Use freezer-friendly ingredients. Fruits such as oranges, kiwi, peaches, bananas, pineapples, and berries are good for freezing. You can freeze them before making the smoothie so you can ditch the ice, then freeze the finished product and these fruits stay well frozen for days!

Get freezer-safe containers. Spend on quality airtight freezable containers. This is to ensure they won’t break while filled with a frozen smoothie, and that they are properly airtight so the other odors inside the fridge won’t seep and ruin your smoothies.

Tip: Don’t fill it up to the brim, leave a little room at the top so the mixture has enough room to expand without breaking the container.

Lastly, store them in the freezer and thaw the smoothie serving the night before serving them. To get the perfect creamy consistency of your healthy “milkshakes”, take them out the freezer overnight and they’ll be ready to drink by breakfast the next morning. You can also pack it with your lunch just throw them in with a couple of ice packs or stick a straw in and take them with you on your morning jog.

Let me share with you some of my favorite frozen smoothie recipes:
